Ultimate 2.0 "wheels" not aligned and tank track rubbing on beam

I bought the ultimate 2.0 kit and wanted to start with the detecting robot, so I am using the assembly video here but it seems to mirror the instructions for the robot arm tank in the actual instruction book. The issue I am running into is that the white 90 teeth “wheels” are not aligned on each side. One on each side connected to a motor has a 4mm shaft connector in between the motor and the wheel. The other ones not connected to the motors have 2x 4x7x3 plastic rings which makes that wheel stick out a bit further than the ones on the motors. When I place the tank track on the wheels, it seems to rub and not sit right on the wheels with the motors, so I feel like they need to be pushed out farther, but the instructions don’t really mention this. Does it need spacers, or do I just leave a bigger gap between th shaft connector and the motor mount?

You can adjust the wheels with motor. The gap between the shaft connector and the motor mount is adjustable.
