Ulitmate robot just beeps.....constantly

got the ulitmate (radioshack) kit for my son for xmas. have spent most of the day trying to get it going. having major problems with firmware updating. when i connect thru usb it is recognized but when i try to upgrade firmware thru arduino i get compliling errors…then it just starts beeping…constantly. have to turn it off with white button on board. i feel i’m in a bit over my head…read lots about motor problems but we can’t even get to that point to test them…help would be appreciated.

ok well now onto a new problem…figured out the buzzing was independent of the firmware download. tried the mblock panda and it seemed to work fine. now app is working but axles arent always turning when hitting app buttons. sometimes it works…sometimes nothing.

i’m close but not there yet. the app is working but it seems to work occasionally. sometimes the wheels turn when button on app pressed other times not …and other times the wheels are turning just slightly on their own (when not pressing any app buttons). in addition at the back where the orange connectors are they are constantly flashing blue…whether pressing app buttons or not (especially the left one). they stop when the app is turned off. what gives?
