Our clamp motor is not working for robotic arm tank ultimate 2.0

Last week our robot clamp was working. This week the clamp would not open or close. We unplugged everything and plugged it back, but in the clamp did not work anymore.

We want to know how to open and close the clamp and if there are any tips or tricks to troubleshoot this problem

Hi Jenghastin,

For this issue, please upgrade firmware for the MegaPi refer to this link. Then please test gripper with the following program:
Note: make sure you have pulled power switch to ON when test the program.

If the Griper doesn’t work, please double check the wiring connection refer to image below:


According to the picture, you need to check three points:

  1. Please pay attention to the white and black wires from the gripper, they should be inserted to the yellow interface in correct order and properly (make sure each metallic line in the black wire and white wire are touched to the metallic part inside the yellow terminal).
    You may try loosen the screw, then re plug the black wire and white wire to the yellow terminal, and screw them again.

  2. If the small wires are plugged well, please make sure you have plug the yellow interface to the Green interface on the MegaPi properly.

  3. Re plug the MegaPi encoder/DC motor driver on Port 4. Or you may switch the MegaPi encoder /DC motor drivers on Port 3 and Port 4 to check if the drivers are working properly.

Please test the above program again after you tried above. If the clamp works, then you can reset default program for the Ultimate robot and control it with mobile APP.How to reset default program for MegaPi.zip (363.1 KB)
