No power M1 and M2 connector

#1

Hi,
I bought the Starter Robot Kit (Bluetooth Version). I’m connecting with with iPad and running simple distance measurement which is fine. But connecting to M1 & M2, the DC motor is not working. I measure voltage with multi-meter but it appears there no power at all. Any advice?

Thanks…

Hi @TVo,

I’m very sorry about the problem here. It seems that the App has some bug, our engineer are working on that. Please wait a few minutes.

I am having the same issue. All of the sensors work fine through the IOS App, however Motor 1 and 2 do not work at all through the application on both android and IOS.

@artisan232 @TVo Sorry for that iOS app has a wrong firmware file (new version sumbitted to Appstore will publish after about a week). The new firmware for orion is updated. Please check it , if your app doesn’t work for control dc motors. https://github.com/Makeblock-official/Makeblock-Firmware/tree/master/tool

Btw the tool you linked was in ??CH?? Is there an English one?

I am having this same issue. The distance sensor works great with the ios app, but the motors do nothing at all. I have gotten the message about upgrading the firmware and it says it has updated. Is this not the correct version? Do I need to install via the Github link? If so, are there directions for doing that somewhere? Newb here. Thanks.

Hi @nine,

We will translate that later. If you want to use it now, please follow the instruction below.

Hi @Emily_Kelton,

You need to download the firmware at first. https://github.com/Makeblock-official/Makeblock-Firmware

And use Arduino IDE to upload the firmware to your board.

Thanks, but being new to this, I could really use some instruction. I’ve downloaded the firmware, and unzipped it. When I open my Arduino IDE and plug in the board, I don’t know what to do next? The readme file is empty. Are there any instructions anywhere?
EDIT: I found the firmware.ino file and opened and tried to upload in the arduino IDE. I get the following error:
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
I also noticed an update the the ios app and tried updating the firmware through that. Now the distance sensor doesn’t work either. :-/
thanks.

Hi,
Just updated the firmware using new IOS update. Looks like everything works now using Makeblock HD. However, the the sound buzzer is permanently “ON”. It’s a constant non-stop buzz… I had turn “OFF” using the manual switch.

wondering if you saw my comment below? Mine now doesn’t work at all. It looks like someone else had luck updating the firmware via the ios app? Mine just keeps telling me I need to update (on the app). And yes, I tried to update with the files at github, but without any instruction at all, my robot now doesn’t work at all. :frowning:

Hi @Emily_Kelton,

When you open the Arduino, plase choose the right serial port in Tools->Serial(Don’t choose COM1, it’s the system serial port). And choose the right board --Arduino UNO, in Tools->Board.

Then you could click the “Upload” button to update the firmware.

@indream Thanks for the iOS firmware update. I bought the Ultimate Kit at Radio Shack and was disappointed by the M1/M2 problem. I figured it was a firmware issue and after noticing how active you guys are on the forums figured I’d just wait for you to fix it. Now my procrastination has been rewarded! Me and my daughters are back on track! Thanks for this great product and keep those updates coming
