My line sensor is not working. The reason is that the sensors are too far from the ground. Actually, watching the perfile of my mbot I can see it is inclined towards its back. What’s the reason ? How to sort it out?
Thank a lot
Line sensor does not work - mblock inclined
Hi Dutes,
Do you mean the distance between the line follower sensor and floor is very high so that the sensor can’t detect the white and black on the floor? Normally, if the sensor is assembled to the correct position on mBot exactly according to the user manual, the distance should be okay.
If you mean the sensor totally stop work no matter how high the distance is, please refer to this document to test if the sensor is okay or not.15. why the Line follower mode doesn’t work on mBot.docx.zip (1.4 MB)
If I push gently the mbot towards the floor it detects correctly (light sensors 1 and 2 light up) but it looks like sensor 2 has a slight delay in ligthing up.
Does it work on the 8-shaped track which came with your mBot?
Could you please send post a picture of the front of your mBot?
yes, my mbot detect the 8-shaped black track (sensors 1 and 2 light on / and off correctly) without the need to push them towards that surface .
Another symptom: I have tried my mbot on a light-green surface and sensors do not light up correctly(they light up properly only if I push them closer to the surface, while instead, on that same surface another mbot works properly: his sensors light up properly whitout the need to push them closer to that surface

That’s probably the cause. The line follower does not work on all kind of lines. Some problems I know:
- If the line is not completely black, e.g. you paint is yourself with a pen
- the line is reflective, e.g. shiny black tape
Best is you print the lines, or use black non-reflective tape.
