Gripper hand is stuck closed: Ultimate Robot Kit

I’ve just completed the first project and it works just fine, but I’ve locked the gripper hand shut and cannot get it to open. The motor is running, I can hear it whine, but the hand will not open. I’ve tried prying it apart (gently) with no success. How can I unlock it?

Rich, I had the same problem when I first built it but managed to free it by wiggling the claws with my fingers. If that doesn’t work, try removing the four screws that hold the claw assembly to the white hex posts and then wiggling the claws.

Ours seized shut at first and nothing would pry it open. I ended up pulling it apart, running the motor and then reassembling the clamp. It was pretty easy and has worked fine ever since
