has anybody figured out what is wrong with these motors?
is it the gears that get stuck or do the windings get too hot or???
what about using 18v Dewalt drill motors?
power supply to them?
i dont know anymore…

Hi @arment,
I’m sorry about the problem of motors. Please order 2 motors on our website and tell me the order number here. And I will modify the price to 0.
johnny i dont have a credit card.
how can i order on your site if it wont let me get that far?
Johnny,
I am having the same problem with the 25mm motors from the Ultimate Robot kit. I will be placing an order for the replacements. Many Radio Shack stores are closing in the U.S. and there are a ton of sales on these bot kits, so you might want to plan for more motor replacement requests.

I didn’t complete the transaction. Order number was (#23898). Please let me know if I have to place the order again.
Thank you.
ok ive waited another day.
i think im just gonna take the tank apart and return to radio shack.
i am not sure why it takes soo long to get a response, maybe the time difference, i dont know but i cant just sit here and stare at something that wont even move.
Just a follow-up. I went to a Radioshack today and took a chance on buying two (heavily discounted) 25mm motor packs that are being sold alongside the Ultimate Robot kit. I was hoping to at least be able to use the robot while waiting for replacement motors to be shipped.
Unfortunately, the motors sold individually at Radioshack are the same underpowered motors included in the kit, so even after using those as replacements … forward/back, but no turns. I’m not sure if that applies to all 25 mm motor kits in the stores.
I do hope to get this beast working properly.
Arment,
I’m not sure what is wrong, but here is what I’ve found. The motor that was shipped with my kit is 25mm, 185 rpm, but it lists a gear ratio of 1:46.
On the spec sheet for the 25mm 185rpm available here on the website, the gear ratio is listed as 1:34.
I’m not an engineer, but if I replace 1:46 gear ratio with a 1:34 ratio I will end up with lower torque, won’t I? That doesn’t sound good. Would love to know what is really going on.
1:34 would have less torque, assuming that the input torque (of the motor without gearing) remains the same. But I don’t see the specs for the motor without gearing, so all we can really go off of is the listed torque for the motor + gears.
Johnny, for the record I am having the same issue with the motors. If I can get the same credit I would love to go ahead and order the two new ones.
—Edit: I got my ratio numbers backwards.
I have the exact same issue, but have four of the tank robotic starter kit. Can I get motor replacements?
And to this point, I’ve now just realized the the IR sensor that came with one of them is also bad.
