XY-PlotterV2 movement problem, servo behavior and firmware

#1

I have recently assembled a XY-PlotterV2 and I seem to have a problem with movement along the Y axis. If the DIP switches on the Me stepper driver are all low (default setting), the movement in the first half of the Y path is smooth and linear, but in the second half it becomes “jumpy” and the whole plotter starts to shake. I tried tightening the belts as much as possible, didn’t help. Any suggestions? (Should I increase the current on the stepper driver? Should I always use slower settings on the DIP switches?)

Furthermore, I cannot seem to set a zero position for the servo, that controls the pen holder, is this even possible? Or do I need to adjust the pen to be in the right position, depending on the height of the surface I wish to draw on?

Lastly, I also have the laser upgrade for the plotter and since I want to use both the laser and the pen plotter function, is there a simple way to switch between firmwares?

You may want to disconnect the belts and make sure the three slides , two axis can slide freely first. Sometimes it is because you tightened all bolts before you confirm the slide works properly.

They run easily (I can move them with one finger without much resistance).
