X Tool D1 Stainless Steel/Aluminum

Hello Everyone I am new to this forum. But i was hoping someone can give me some pointers. I just purchased the XTool D1 engraver. I was not stark working on engraving stainless steel and aluminum. But i was wondering do I need to put something on it for a coat before I do So?
