Working ok with my Mac, not so much on Win7

#1

My grandson uses a Windows 7 laptop so I wanted to get the mBot working with my Windows 7 laptop. Using the same mBot I used with my Mac, but using my Win7 laptop, I installed the device driver, the Arduino 1.6.5 software and mBlock. I rebooted the laptop. I paired the laptop with the mBot and started mBlock. The mBot option under ‘Boards’ was already checked. Under connect I clicked ‘discover’ and after a few seconds, 3 options popped up and I checked the makeblock option. The Bluetooth adapter on the mBot changed from blinking blue to a steady view and mBlock showed ‘Serial Port Connected’. I write a simple scratch program to blink the led lights for 5 seconds. I clicked on the ‘Upload to Arduino’ and a popup said ‘Please connect the serial port’. The mBlock software says ‘Serial Port Connected’. I’ve rebooted both the laptop and the mBot serveral times with the same result.

Any ideas? Suggestions? My grandson goes home day after tomorrow… So I’m pressed for time.

Use USB for upload. Seems that is the only reliable way to update firmware or upload arduino code.
You can use bluetooth for sending commands directly from scratch but you have to update firmware to remove any previously loaded programs.
