Using Bluetooth for mBot / Codeybot in a classroom

#1

Hi,

I really like the mBlockly app for the ipads and we’d love to convert to using it in class instead of Scratch (at least in some classes).

I understand the app can only work with Bluetooth and not with the 2.4G. Is it possible to connect, say, 15 mBots with Bluetooth to 15 ipads and control them each individually?

When we did initial investigation we were told to buy the 2.4G as it works better in a classroom compared to the Bluetooth. Is that still the case? If we buy 15 Bluetooth chips for mBots, will it work?

Also the same question for CodeyBots - can we have a classroom with 15 Codeybots each with their own paired iPad?

Thanks!

Hi TechScience,

15 mBots with Bluetooth can also work in a classroom either, while you need pair each iPad to each mBot with Bluetooth (all the other mBots must be powered off when you pair one of mBots to an iPad).
Here is a post explain the details from other teachers: http://forum.makeblock.cc/t/mbot-2-4-g-vs-bluetooth-versions/4616/5
Please note, Bluetooth version mBot can only work with iPad 3 and above.

As for the Codeybot, there is no Bluetooth version Codeybot since the Codeybot only use 2.4G wireless serial.
