Upload failing - mbot basic , windows 10, stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding

#1

hi, ive gota small simple code for the remote control , i upload it to an mbot, all is good… then i unplug the mbot, put another mbot onto the usb port, connect to port, goto upload and get an upload failed error, with this:
stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 9 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x0c
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 10 of 10: not in sync: resp=0x0c

i tried reinstalling the firmware, pressing the reset button on mbot, and reinstaslling the driver on the laptop

this is happening on 2 of my mbots… i am a teacher thus ive got several mbots, mixed , but all the same mbot modet

thanks all

Hi @magicmarc,

I get that message when I forget to re-connect to the mBot via mBlock when I swap robots on the USB cable. Not sure what is happening otherwise. :frowning:

Try exiting mBlock and restarting it. It may be a bug that @tec_support might be aware of.

Hi magicmarc,

Does this error only appear on two particular mBots or it happens on a second mBot when you transfer the USB cable from a first mBot to a second one?

Do you use the latest version mBlock 3.4.6? And what is your operating system of your PC?
Here I tested two mBots on my PC, there is no error uploading after switch the cable from one mBot to the other.

Besides, is there any arduino software opened too when running the mBlock software?
And it is suggested to remove the 2.4G / Bluetooth module on the mBots while you uploading the program.

this happens when i plug the mbot to the usb, connect to the new com port, and then try to upload the simple program.
i do use a mix of the earlier mbot and the newer ones (silver trackball as front wheel, as well as the black plastic roller front wheel)
thus, ill keep exact track of the specific mbots that are having the problem
the system is windows 7 64 bit.

i have in the past, swapped out the mbot and uploaded a program.
there are no arduino windows open
im downloading the latest version now. 3.4.8

Hi magicmarc,

OK, will wait for your further feedback after tested the mBots with mBlock 3.4.8
If it is possible, you may take a video for the operation and issue when it happens again.
Besides, kindly have a test on another PC if there is one and make sure the 2.4G module or Bluetooth module temporarily removed while uploading the program.

THANKS IT IS NOW WORKS ON MY SYSTEM with the latest x.8 version of makeblock.
im no EXACTLY sure what resolved the issue, but i:

*installed the latest makeblock app.
*closed/reopened it for the change in robot
*took thestudent mbot to my system and uploaded the program.

they seem to be working now, thanks tech_support and of course chuck Mcknight!
