Update Firmware vs Upload

Hello, Mblock community!
I am trying Mblock with an Arduino Uno board, and I have a question. What is the technically the difference between the Upload button in the upload mode and the Update firmware button in the Live mode?
Does the Update firmware feature upload some extra stuff onto the board that stays there permanently and/or change its parameters? Or does it disappear after I have uploaded a new sketch into the Arduino memory? What is the "online firmware(2.5.1) that is in the Arduino Uno module?

According to the product manager, once you choose live mode, it can run online program without updating firmware though you have upload customized codes to it. I do have not the chance to do test, please have a try. And for more question, please come back to us with details.
