Unable to edit in mBlock with Arduino IDE

#1

I’m running mBlock with Windows 10. I am having two problems. First, when I create my sketch using the blocks in Scratch, the code does not always appear in the Arduinio Program window. Then, if I minimize the window with mBlock, I will, sometimes, see the code. However, and this is the second problem, I cannot edit the Arduino code. When I press the button “Edit with Arduino IDE”, the Arduino flash screen comes up, says that it is loading some stuff, and then it goes away. However, I am unable to edit anything on the right side of the screen.

Any help will be appreciated

Hi txaggie84,

Which version mBlock you are using.
Please uninstall, then download and install the latest version mBlock 3.4.3 have a try.

Thank you for your quick response. That worked great! I was running 3.4.3 but the upload got interrupted due to a slow Wi-Fi connection. Apparently that interruption caused a small glitch in the program. I was able to do a lot but not everything worked. Now it works fabulous. I was afraid my grandson was going to have to learn Arduino in order to really program the bot but now I see he’ll be to do a lot with the mBlock program. I’m a happy boy. Thanks again

I run 3.4.4 on Windows 10 and have exact same issue. When clicking “Edit with Arduino IDE” the flash screen for the Arduino IDE pops up, messages say something about “preparing boards” before it disappears - and that is all that happens after hitting that button. At the same time programs prepared with Scratch do compile and upload to the mBot correctly (and they even work as expected). The thing is I would like to do more complex stuff that would be very cumbersome in Scratch - or not supported (like procedures).

Running mBlock as Administrator solves the problem with v3.4.4. Good Luck!

Please advise on how to change to “Administrator”. I cannot find that setting.

#7

Right-click on the mBlock icon and use Run as Administrator
