Swapping motors on starter bot

Could I swap out the two standard DC motors with sku 80042 (25 9v encoder motor)? Will they have the same mounting screw pattern?

Gotta MegaPi with encoder motor drivers just dying to be tested…

Hi BigAl,

The Optical Encoder Motor-25 9V/86RPM has different connection interface with the DC motors, you need use the encoder motor driver to connect the Motor to the Orion board, see this link:http://www.makeblock.com/optical-encoder-motor-pack-25-9v-185rpm
Since you need use the different port and need a motor driver, the assemble should be some different, you may need figure it out by yourself.
Please note: the default program for starter won’t take effect after you swapped the motor and you need program yourself.

I just was asking if it will mount using the same hardware as the standard motors. Is the mounting screw pattern the same? I have the encoder motor driver modules.

Yes, the mounting screw pattern is same since both kind motors have the same size motor shaft.
