Stick a Timing Belt

#1

Hi all

I would like to link a “Timing Pulley 32T” and a “Plastic Timing Pulley 62T Without Steps” with a “Timing belt(1m), Open-end”. The good lenght for my project is approximatly 600mm but there is not the great lenth in Makeblock.
I think to buy the 1m timing belt from Makeblock, cut the 600mm and stick the two ends.
How can i proceed (with glue?, staples?, other?) ?

Thanks

From what I can tell it’s possible, but the spliced belt will not have the same strength/integrity as a manufactured one. Here’s a link that discusses one way that was used for a sander. Here is the master thread for the discussion. Here’s another link from the reprap forum that discusses another approach.

Another option is to look for a manufactured belt that is 600mm or one that you can use a tension pulley to achieve the length you are after. Here’s one link to a belt that might work. In general you’d be looking for a closed loop belt that has the length you are seeking, with gear teeth of approximately 2mm and a width of 6m-6.6mm.

Good luck!
