Starter Kit and mBlock 5

#1

I have the Starter Kit, and have installed mBlock 5 on my Mac. However, I am not sure what board to choose in the device library, as the starter kit is not shown. The nearest similar system is either the mBot or the mBot Ranger. We first tried to use the mBot, however, could not get the ultrasonic sensor to work. In addition, did not see a way to revert to the original program, and ended up installing mBlock 3 which was very easy to flash back to the original program.

So, my question is three-fold,

  1. Is mBlock 5 compatible with the Starter Kit (IR)
  2. Which system should I chose in the device library
  3. How do I reset to the original software via mBlock 5?

#2

mBlock 5 is not compatible with Starter kit, please use mblock 3 (3.4.11):

Refer to this post for how to reset default program for Starter in mBlock 3.

The Starter kit uses the older Orion board (Arduino Uno-based), for what it’s worth.

Why not just make a profile for the starter kit in Mblock 5? There’s no reason to remove support for such a widely used and owned set of boards?!

#5

mBlock 3 supports Starter, no plan to add starter in mBlock 5.

#6

Please add starter to mBlock5. This kit and inventor kit are still being sold new. If you don’t update sw, please list kits as discontinued on Amazon.
