One more idea to narrow down the problem: can you connect from a smartphone or tablet to the bot? You can control it with the app Makeblock:

Running program on Mbot
Thanks. I have an school ipad that wonât connect. I will try with my sonâs at home. Sadly, I have a dumbphone.
Usually the Bluetooth connection from mobile devices is much more reliable than from PCs or laptops. If that does not work, your Bluetooth module is probably broken.
Hi Lily,
Does the Bluetooth work when tried with other mobile devices?
Normally, when connect with iPad (need iPad 3 or above), there is no need to pair, you can open the Makeblock APP and put the phone close to the Bluetooth module on mBot, normally it will be connected automatically.
If it still canât be connected, you may need check the battery for mBot.
If it is possible, kindly change the batteries have a try.
Once still the same thing after tried above, please add my skype account (1021306172@qq.com), then we can do further checking. We are available between 9:00~18:30 on working day at China time.
I can connect on ipad, but cannot use full Scratch programâonly apps which are sort of minimal compared to Scratch. My connection with my laptop goes off after about 5 minutes. I would prefer to us it. The mBot is running fine with the batteries, so I donât think they are low.
I will try the Skype, but cannot at school, but will do so later.
Ok, so the Bluetooth module is fine. My guess is then that the problem is on the PC side. Some ideas to try:
- update the Bluetooth device drivers
- try to use a USB Bluetooth dongle - I have problems with the build-in Bluetooth device, a dongle works better.
