Robot Starter kit Bluetooth firmware update

#41

After getting our bot to move through the computer Bluetooth I noticed that it struggles to turn I had new batteries but still not turning how did you overcome the low power drain on the motors

#42

@Christopher_Burkovic, your motors are defective like some of us. See the thread @ http://forum.makeblock.cc/t/all-about-motors-app-and-etc-from-makeblock-team/903/1. Be sure to read through all of it and when you email makeblock, include as much detail, pictures, and video as possible.

Hi Bixator,
I now your pain. I thought this would be a fun project for my kids as well as myself to
learn more about programming and robotics. Putting the robot tank together was fun
but soon found out we are no way ready for the programming not to mention the
Bluetooth. lol

@nubot1, can we know what kind of device have you used for bluetooth connection, iPhone , Android mobile, Pad or laptap? whats the system version? How did you try to connect the bluetooth, via setting in my device or via app directly? could you please kindly send email to us by Support@makeblock.cc? We would try best to support, thanks!

Iā€™m trying to connect with a IPhone 4S with IOS 9.2.1 .

It shows being connected to robot on phone and blue light on blue tooth

on robot stops blinking and goes to solid on. When I hit the menu button on app

and press help it always says error connecting to database. I connect through the app.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

for what its worth, Iā€™ve been having the same BT issue on a galaxy tablet. Updated all firmware, then finally saw this thread to switch to Port 5 from 4ā€¦worked first try! Been working on this all day!

This is for my 10 yr olds starter kit, with the arm we just added from Christmas.

He can use the app to modify the code blocks that are already in the software.

So, in summary, our starter robot worked fine a few weeks ago. We put the robot arm attachment on today, but couldnā€™t get the BT to connect due to a firmware issue (it said). I updated all apps and firmware, but it only worked when i put the BT module into Port 5

Hi ahowardmsu05?

The robot works now or not? Does the APP still say the firmware issue?
If yes, it is suggested to upgrade firmware for the Orion board again with the Latest version mBlock 3.4.4 refer to this instruction.
Please note: temporarily remove the Bluetooth module from port 5 on Orion board while upgrade firmware.4. How to upgrade firmware for Orion Board.docx.zip (439.0 KB)

Then you can plug Bluetooth module back in and test with Makeblock APP.

Hi fermarotta,

Have you tried reset default program for the Ultimate with latest version mBlock 3.4.6?
If your robot is Ultimate 2.0, please make sure you have chosen the correct Board ā€œUltimate 2.0 (MegaPi)ā€ while reset default program. How to reset default program for MegaPi.zip (363.1 KB)

On the mobile device, please make sure you are using the latest version Makeblock APP either.
