Robot gripper control system

#1

Hello,
i’m in a mechanical engineering school and for my final project i will use the robot gripper from the ultimate robot kit ( http://www.makeblock.cc/robot-gripper/ ), which components do i need to powered and control the gripper? I mean which electronic modules, wires, electrical power source etc. The system from the ultimate robot is too complicated for my use.
I need a simple circuit, so if anybody can help me i would appreciate.

Orion board. That should be all you need. It has a DC motor controller on-board.

Well, i have the motor and the controller, i will probably need a battery holder ( http://www.makeblock.cc/battery-holder-for-6-aa/ ).
With a bluetooth module ( http://www.makeblock.cc/me-bluetooth-module-dual-mode/ ) can i manage the speed of the gripper, its trigger and its position, i mean the lenght?

Edit : My project is simple, i will put the gripper at the end of a telescopic pole, it should be able to grab different size of objects. The gripper as to keep is lenght even if a force and a torque are aplied. I should be able to control the opening far from the gripper ( max 6 meters ).

I would opt for the Lithium rechargeable battery and get 11.1 volts. You don’t need a ton if capacity unless you plan to use it over long durations. This way to will have a lot less weight and more power both from the voltage and from the fact that there is much less internal resistance in the LiPo. You will probably have to find a different source for that.
