Question about Makeblock stepper motor driver, bipolar

#1

I’m using the makeblock stepper motor driver to run a salvaged printer motor. I want to use it to motorize a telescope focuser. I just got the controller yeaterday, hooked it all up and it works great and is super easy.

However, this whole thing will be battery operated, so I need to minimize power consumption. The focus has plenty of friction so it won’t change focus without input to the knob, so I don’t need holding torque. Is there any way to tell the controller to cut power to the motor coils when the motor is NOT stepping?

Thanks!
