Please connect the serial port message - error

#1

Hi,
I am trying to Upload to Arduino but get a “Please connect the serial port” message.
The title bar at the top of mBlock says mBlock - Based on Scratch from the MIT Media Lab (v3.4.4) - Serial Port Connected - Saved
Menu bar: Connect/Serial Port/dev/tty.usbmodemFA121 is ticked, indicated that it is connected.
This only seems to happen with mBlock version V3.4.4. If I use V3.4.3 rev2 I do not get this problem.
I am using Mac OSX El Capitan V 10.11.6
Arduino board is original Arduino UNO not one with CH430 chip.

The title bar does not agree with the message pop up window?

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks

Hi phil,

I am not sure if you are using the mBlock 3.4.4 beta version, you may install the official version again have a try.
Here is the download link.

Hi tec_support,
I downloaded mBlock from the link you provided and it makes no difference:

The “Robots” serial indicators (Arduino and Extension) are green.
The title bar says "Serial Port Connected"
The serial drop down menu for tty.usbmodemFA121 is ticked

If I “Edit in Arduino IDE” and upload from IDE everything works correctly.

Please note that I do not have this problem with previous versions of mBlock

Thanks

Hi tec_support,
As requested by email I have made a screen recording of the serial port problem.
It is about 12Mb in size, so I can’t upload to this forum.
Please advise.

Phil
