One of my two bluetooth modules does not appear to be working

#1

Hello All,
I finally got my two mBots through the Kickstarter delivered. My son’s birthday was today and we built them both. I am an EE so I made sure he was careful in assembly. I appears one of the bluetooth modules does not work. I can communicate with one but the other won’t pair. If I swap the modules between mBots the good one works on the other Mbot, but the bad one still does not work. On the bad one the blue LED is on steadily instead of blinking like the other. My guess is it is defective. Is it under warranty? What are my options to get a replacement and to get it going quickly?

Thanks

Tom M.

@tmig, thanks for your feedback, you may have mixed up something: if the bluetooth LED keep sparking, which means the bluetooth didnt get connected, staying solid means getting paired, thats not say the bluetooth can work if staying solid. Did the Makeblock bluetooth list on your mobile? Did the app showed “connected” while staying solid? whats the brand and the system are you running? If you cant send email to support@makeblock.cc, you can kindly try pioneer@makeblock.cc, thanks!

Hello,
I just purchased a mBot and I’m also having troubles with my Bluetooth module (dual mode). Just like in Tom’s case, the blue light is steady right away (it is never blinking) and I can’t pair it.

What is the procedure to get a replacement Bluetooth module?

Thank you

@vdoban, 1. which brand and system are you using, iPhone or any other brands? 2. Can you find “Makeblock” listed in your bluetooth devices? Did you try to connect the bluetooth via app directly or setting in the phone itself?

I tried from iPhone and also from my laptop ThinkPad T450 - I don’t see “Makeblock” at all, even though I see other Bluetooth devices on both iPhone and Thinkpad.
I also tried Bluetooth -> Discover from within mBlock, but it also couldn’t find it.

I was able to connect and control the bot from ThinkPad T450 using the USB connection. So it looks like the Bluetooth card is the problem.

Thank you for your help.
