Moving the plotter around to make large drawing

#1

I want to draw on a large surface, is it possible to break up a large vector drawing into individual pieces with fiducials or include visual markers on the drawing and then move the plotter to another location to continue the next part of the drawing? How difficult would it be to precisely align the plotter on a large grid?

…Alex, my take on what you’re trying to do is that it would be more successful/easier to support the XY plotter on a frame of some type, and move your large drawing surface beneath the plotter. You know exactly where the 0,0 origin is at each step/frame and could accurately align the drawing surface beneath it to the new origin. Load up the new graphic for each frame and go.

Thanks for your question actually, it gives me an idea I might use in my own work.

It might be better/easier to make many individual drawings and glue/tape them together. Or even try a drawing robot rather than a plotter…
