Microsoft Cognitive Services – Voice, Face & Text Recognition

I’ve seen a few people asking about this mBlock Extension, but I haven’t found an definitative tutorial on how to get this up and running.

This PDF is helpful on how to use it:

But, is there anything that needs to be setup on the computer before these blocks will work?
I am specifically having difficulty with the voice recognition.

Also, are these Mac compatible?

And, does anyone have any examples of programs they’ve done in mBlock using this extension?
I’m writing some mBot Ranger curriculum, and I think the students would find this feature a lot of fun if I can find a reliable way to incorporate it into the curriculum.

Hi rosemarybianchi,

There is no special settings need to set on the computer with latest mBlock software.
It works on both Windows computer and Mac computer.

For the voice recognition, what is your detailed problem? And could you paste your program here.
Besides, you need make sure the computer has the microphone and the internet on the computer works properly.

Currently, there is no other tutorial with examples of using the Microsoft Cognitive Services except the one you found.

I am using the exact code in the document I shared.

I will need to try this at home, when I’m not behind the school’s firewall. And, possibly on a PC.

On my Mac, on the school network, I realized that it is listening, but it is delayed about 45 minutes to 1 hour before it repeats what was said. It actually startled me because I left my program running while I was working and it repeated an entire sentence back to me a while after I had turned it on.

Yes, the school network may affect its performance. It is suggested to try on home network.
