MegaPi power supply requirements

When using the MegaPi to driver servo motors like the HS-645MG, the power supply requirement is difficult. One must not exceed 6v for the motor, but one needs at least 6v for the MegaPi.

I want to use 5V on usb to supply power to the MegaPi electronics and 5v on the power connector to supply the motors. Is this ok?

What is the ideal solution to this problem?

The MegaPi has a on board DC to DC converter. A 12v supply at 1 amp can supply 5v to the 5v pins on the MegaPi at >2 A. Power is available for sensors, motors and on-board electronics.

Use the on-board 5v supply for ~ 3 Amps at 5v.
