Me Shield, Raspberry Pi 3 and Bluetooth

#1

I’m trying to control and mBot from a Raspberry Pi 3 so that I can add Face Detection and Voice recognition.

Ideal scenario would be to power Raspberry with Me Shield and communicate mBot with Raspberry Pi using either Bluetooth or Me Shield serial port.

Can you please confirm that Me Shield is compatible with mBot 1.1

I’ve tried with mBot 1.1 and Raspberry Pi 3 and the result so far is:

  1. Power provided is not sufficient for Raspberry Pi 3 to work. Neither with Battery pack (4x AA). Is it possible to power mBot with 6x AA?
  2. Communication with Rasp only works with USB cable, neither Bluetooth neither through ttyS0 using Me Shield

Any recommendation on how to fix this?

Thank you.

Hi Janume,

For advanced personal DIY project, we haven’t searched on it, may not have enough ability to provide all support.
Here we can only provide little tips. Please see the learn website for mCore and you can see its operating voltage is 3.7~6V, we don’t suggest that power it with 6 x AA.
Normally, the Me Shield for Raspberry Pi is for Me Orion or Me baseboard instead of mCore. To use it on mCore, you may need to figure it out by yourself according to the circuit schematics.
