mBot won't make sounds from iPad coding

#1

Hi all, I have just finished building the mbot with my son, it makes noises on start up (beeps). We then installed the iPad coding app, went through the steps and at the very first step of making the mbot “meow” we were not able to hear anything.

Should I be expecting the mbot to make a meow sound (that’s what I understand the code to be doing) it’s literally the first step.

Any help with this will be greatly appreciated

Hello there! The mBot2 has speaker, but not the original mBot. What version do you have?

I have the original mbot. we downloaded the mblock app and were simply following the coding instructions under events.

What app should we be using for him to kick start his coding learning journey with the original mbot

Hi @Kaka321

Now I know that you are using mBot 1 I’ve taken the liberty of sending you a file copy of my first book - and although it’s Windows PC based, most of the content is equally applicable to usage on an iPad. I do hope that the methodology that it contains will be of some value to both you and your son.

Good luck

Lindsay

Thanks for sending through the book I will give it a read.

The reason we got this for my son is his STEM teacher contacted us and advised that he had been identified as gifted in coding (scratchjr) and we should foster his love.

The mBot (mBot 1) does not have a speaker, it just has a buzzer. Most likely, the tablet is supposed to make sound and not the mBot.
