I’m having problems with Ranger mbot. Last Sunday afternoon April 9, 2017 I was running my Ranger in manual mode play with my Nexus 7 second generation tablet and was working well. Later that evening when I wanted to show my son who was visiting how the Range worked. I connected up with Bluetooth as usual and turned on obstacle avoiding, manual mode play and nothing happened. After about a minute it took off and ran up to the wall climbing up and flipped over. I couldn’t turn it off with the obstacle avoiding switch and it ran for about 1 minute and stopped.
The steps I have taken too correct the problem:
Checked for latest updates
Upgrade firmware
Uninstalled and reinstalled app
Reconnected Bluetooth
Problem not corrected.
Further testing l found that if I switch to design mode and opened the code for obstacle avoiding and started the program and was connected with Bluetooth to the Ranger that the Ranger ran correctly. When I switch back to play and turned on the obstacle avoiding switch it would about 5 seconds and be stuck in a turn command and spin around or run forward and crash. It seems as if the code gets stuck in the Netherworld when I use the play button, but the joystick works correctly and also obstacle avoiding works correctly from the drop down menu.

Hey, have you tried to reset default program? How to Reset default program for Ranger.zip (411.1 KB)
Please remote the Bluetooth module from Ranger before resetting the default program.
I did the default program reset and things have changed a little. I created a new project with only an ultrasonic numeric read out. It took about a minute to start. I held a card in front of the sensor and started counting seconds. It took 10 seconds to update the readout. This remained true for all the test I did with the sensor. I also went to the design mode and started the sensor program and it responded correctly. I switched back to play mode. The sensor responded correctly for about 2 seconds then updated every 10 seconds again. Now I have moved up to the world of slow response time.
Hi larrycturner,
How did you test the sensor under design mode? Do you mean the sensor only work when you create your own project?
If it is possible, please kindly take a video to show your test under design mode and test under play mode as well as the behaves on the Ranger.
Besides, to test if the Sensor works normal, you can also test it through mBlock software:
Please note: you need upgrade firmware for Ranger first before testing above program. How to Upgrade Firmware for Ranger.zip (358.3 KB)
