Mbot ranger not connecting to android app via bluettoth

#1

I have used the mbot ranger with the android app for 2-3 days after receiving the kit. Almost after a week’s time, when the mbot ranger doesn’t connect to the andoid app anymore. It keeps showing “connecting…” and then displays disconnected. I have tried the following things but all have failed.

  1. Tried new battries on the mbot ranger.
  2. uninstalled the app and reinstalled the app

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
DJ

Hi Deepenjoshi,

Is the blue led keep slow flashing on the Ranger? Please replug it have a try.
Besides, on your mobile phone Bluetooth settings page, please cancle the pairing and pair the Bluetooth again have a check?
Also, is it the same issue when connect its Bluetooth on the other mobile devices?

  1. I have unplugged and re-plugged the power several times (stopped counting after 10 times).
  2. The blue led keeps flashing all the time.
  3. I have un-paired and re-paired the ranger with the android and apple device several times (stopped counting after 10 times)
  4. On apple, it said connected just 1 more time out of several but the ranger did not move when I used the app. Subsequently, it got disconnected and did not connect again.

Your help is much appreciated.

My kids 8+ and 5+ and myself are eager to keep this moving.

Hi Deepenjoshi,

For replug, actually, I mean unplug the Bluetooth module from the Auriga Board and then replug this module.
Please refer to this link to open the Auriga case: http://www.makeblock.com/me-auriga

If it still doesn’t work after replug the Bluetooth module, please temporarily remove the Bluetooth module, upgrade firmware for the Ranger refer to this instructionHow to Upgrade Firmware for Ranger.zip (358.3 KB)

After above, please disconnect the USB cable, then attach the Bluetooth module and connect Bluetooth to mobile device have a check.

Thanks for the solution. I had to upgrade the firmware using the “Upgrade Firmware for Ranger.zip” attachment for it to work. Does that mean that every time I run into the same issue, I follow these steps?

Hi Deepenjoshi,

Glad to hear that.
If you meet the issue gain, you can try upgrade firmware first.
