mBot Ranger Continually Stops and Beeps on movement

#1

Every time I drive the bot forward or backward it will move slightly and promptly stop, beep, contiue to move slightly and repeat the process. Is this a battery or connectivity issue or is this due to the default programming?

Hi,
I can only confirm this. Our Ranger began stop moving and beeping after a couple of hours gaming it.
The batteries are from Energizer and I can measure 7.8 V on output of battery pack. We have updated to last firmware with mBlock on PC. We need help!!!

Hi Schordas,

Yes, there is most likely a battery problem. But you can upgrade firmware for it first have a try. Here is the instruction. How to Upgrade Firmware for Ranger.zip (358.3 KB)

Once still the same issue, please kindly change the battery.
According to our test and research, it is suggested to use rechargeable Li-ion battery or rechargeable nickel-metal hydride, nickel-cadmium which can be bought from amazon or local shop.
Or Alkaline battery with good quality like Energizer, DURACELL, but the ranger is a high power robot which consume the power in the battery easily so that I may suggest use the rechargeable battery.

Hi Kamamoto,

It it is possible, please use the rechargeable battery have a try since the ranger is a high power robot which consume the power in the battery easily.
Since you mentioned that you have played the ranger with these batteries for a couple of hours, the battery may not able to provide enough current to the robot though the voltage still says 7.8v.
