mBot questions

#1

I’m wondering about a few things regarding the mBot.

First, it seems that my gyro sensor (Me3 axis) does not work and gives wrong angle measurements unless I update the firmware between each run of my program on mblock. Is this supposed to happen or is something wrong?

Second, when I am moving my robot forward, it seems that when I use lithium batteries the speed is different than when I use regular AA batteries. Is this due to the voltage difference?

Third, how can I reliably move a set distance with the mBot if I am moving the wheels at different speeds each time? Will I need to see what power corresponds to what distance and calculate the speed each time,

Hello there!

  1. I do not know of that is supposed to happen or not.
  2. Lithium batteries supply more current than regular ol’ batteries.
  3. That is not possible with the regular mBot. What exactly are you talking about?

@spirixsabr
Are you using mBot or mBot Neo, mBot Ranger, etc.?

As for differing speeds with different batteries, yes, this is caused by the voltage difference.

Unless you have mBot Ranger or mBot Neo, you can’t precisely move the mBot a certain distance every time. You can move it for a fixed time as a slow speed, but this is still not as precise as the encoder motors with mBot Neo and Ranger have.

Where can I buy a mBot Neo?

@holothere It should be available via Amazon.

@holothere
You can buy the mBot 2 here:

Or search for it online (e.g., Amazon, RobotShop, etc.).
