mBot Neo (mBot2) front and back bumper protection (mechanical assembly)

#1

Hi,

Has anyone built a bumper with components from Makeblock? Can you put some pictures of your work here?

Since the mBot Neo kit is missing some basic bumper protection, especially for protecting sensitive components like the Quad RGB Sensor Module (against damage to electronic components) and the chassis (against scratches), I wonder if anything can be built with the Beam0824 Pack, for example.

In addition, I have found as potential candidates the following components:

Beam0824-080-Blue (4-Pack) in combination with Beam0808-024-Blue (4-Pack)
Beam0824-096-Blue (4-Pack) in combination with Bracket Robot Pack
2x Plate 45°-Blue (Pair)
2x Bracket L1-Blue (Pair)

What I am aiming for is to build a front and back bumper based on the below idea:

mBot Neo (mBot 2) Front Bumper

It would be a good idea if Makeblock considered designing a front and back bumper solution for mBot Neo so that customers like me won’t have to look for alternatives. This would be an excellent addition to the product’s box for those who want to protect their purchase against physical damage.

Thank you,
Andreas

Hi Andreas @andeug - For info. see the bumpers I created in this earlier post of mine:

Thank you for the information. I reviewed your post and would like to build that kind of bumper solution.
I will probably have to buy some components and start experimenting. My only concern is that I would have to throw away some pieces or make an impulsive purchase. :grinning:

@andeug Do you have a 3D printer? I have one; I also have an mBot Neo and I can create a model for you if that would help.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a printer.

But I am considering buying the Smart World Add-on Pack, which comes with some sort of front protection.
I went in touch with various resellers of Makeblock and I was advised that the company has stopped selling mechanical parts, and now what you can buy they are only small components and leftovers. It is a bit sad that they are limiting the options of the DIY-ers like me.

Where are you based? Greetings from Sweden!

@andeug I’m in the USA. :slight_smile:

I believe makeblock still provides some parts if you specifically request them. You can do so via email here:
support@makeblock.com

If you can get a list pieces you might want or need, I can ask some makeblock friends of mine if they can help you with that.
