Mbot mblock5 send IR message - IR message received

i have a mbot bluetooth and also a 2.4G wireless serial module for mbot.
mblock 5 has commands “send IR message” and “IR message received”
Can I just swap the bluetooth module for the 2.4G wireless serial module?

Also the diagram of the mbot controller seems to show an IR receiver and IR transmitter built-in the board.
