MBot issues a single beep at boot time

#1

Hello. Normally, whenever you reset or start the MBot from the power switch, you get three sound tones.

Since yesterday, I am only hearing one single, short beep, probably indicating some kind of issue.

I am not able to control MBot anymore from the Makeblock IDE (either Bluetooth or serial).

I have already changed batteries and upgraded firmware.

Thanks,
Fernando

Fernando-

My troubleshooting procedure is to Update the Firmware and Restore the Default Program.

Those three tones are part of the Firmata-derived default program, which handles communication over BT and Serial.

Thanks! Where can I find info about restoring defaults?

How to upgrade the firmware and restore the default program is described the in guide pdf here: http://learn.makeblock.com/getting-started-programming-with-mblock/

That did the trick. I’ve noticed, however, that the three tones play slower than the original program. Is this normal? Thanks

No clue

Hi fer_lopezbello,

The upgrade firmware and reset default program are two different programs.
The mBot will only have the three tones play when it has the default reset program (control the mBot with remote controller or mobile APP). It will only beep for once if you upgrade firmware (needed when you want to do program online test ) for it.

Normally, the three tones play have the same speed, it may function slower if there is no enough power.
You may reset default program for it again have a check with latest mBlock software 3.4.5

Besides, here is a program online course for mBot if you want to program the robot

They changed the speed of the beeps in the default program last winter/spring, somewhere around mBlock 3.2x

For a few months, that speed difference was how I could track which units hadn’t been updated.
