Makeblock Ranger won't work with Bluetooth controller

I recently purchased a Bluetooth controller for my daughter.

Up to this point she has ran everything from the app on her iPhone with no problems.

She used her chromebook to connect via USB and do some basic programming and was successful as running attached. But as soon as we unplug and try the same actions with the remote we get nothing

The controller seems to connect (blinking light goes solid on both robot and controller)

We have updated firmware and tried resetting with no luck

We are hoping that someone can help and hoping that we have just missed something.

Have the issue been solved?
To get the Bluetooth controller work for the Ranger, we have to write our own program and upload it to Ranger. Like we have below code, and then upload to Ranger, then pair the Bluetooth controller with the Bluetooth module:
