Makeblock.com / openlab.com not working with OS X Safari browser

I’m seeing timeouts and other sluggishness with the Makeblock sites when I use the OS X Safari browser (Version 9.1.2 (11601.7.7)). I have no problems logging in with Mozilla Firefox, but Safari just sits there doing nothing for a long time before simply stopping.
