Makeblock blue tooth tank does not connect via bluetooth

#1

Hi,

I’ve recently received a makeblock starter kit (Bluetooth tank version) as a Christmas present. I was ecstatic at first, until I turned to the last page of the manual (why a QR code?). Well, after a couple application downloads later, I’m ready to turn on the tank and get started!

Nothing happened, so I did some research. Downloaded apps to my computer, updated firmware through Arduino. I met with some success as the distance sensor now worked, but it still wouldn’t drive anywhere.

After doing more research, I found that lights are supposed to illuminate when the motors are receiving signals. So I install more firmware (mblock_firmware) through Arduino again. Now I can’t connect to my tank visit bluetooth, it doesn’t even show up on the scan anymore (using my Samsung phone). So I went and downloaded scratch block and updated the firmware through that(using the computer via usb). Still can’t connect to the tank via bluetooth (on my phone).

Long story short: I’m extremely frustrated with the amount of work necessary to operate a ‘starter kit’. I’ve spent hours sifting through the makeblock forums attempting to find a well written guide that should have been in the manual to begin with, and have yet to find a working solution for my problem:

Makeblock bluetooth tank no longer connects to phone via Bluetooth after multiple firmware updates using several different applications.

Quick question is your computer’s bluetooth turned on? Because most computers have bluetooth turned off by default

My computer doesn’t have Bluetooth, my phone does. I’m using usb to update firmware from the computer and Android to bluetooth / control it.

I had bluetooth connxion poblems using my Wiko smartphone. BT is really difficult to use in some cases.
Try implementing programms and learning how to deal with your mbot, and avoid BT… perhaps you should migrate to nRF24 but you can’t connect to a smartphone…
Be awre that to use BT in order to drive the mbot, there is a code that must run on the mbot that takes into account your orders and communicate… so if you put your own program on the mbot’s arduino then you will no longer get BT responses.
