Make mBlock portable, without any cache

#1

Hello,
in french school, there’s a lot of security a user cannot change on his personnal session. But mBlock doesn’t realy need an install, when after installing it I copy the whole directory in another computer it works well ! Of course I need to install drivers, and mBlock try to write again in a cache.

Is it possible to help french school by creating a portable version too ? I’m a STEM trainer for West of France, publishing at a national level, and a lot of people decided to buy mBot, but installation of mBlock is a problem. I asked to different developper of open suorce software and they very kindly acccepted. It helps us to give it to tudent on an USN stick too, very useful.

Thanks a lot for your help !

Hi Sebseb,

Thanks for your suggestions.
We have plan to develop the mBlock software 4.0 version which can be opened by the web browser directly. It will be more convenient than copy the directory with a USB.

Will mBlock 4.0 be based on Scratch 3.0? Do you know when it will be released? Just curious. Scratch 3.0 looks really intersting. I would also like to have the backpack function added to mBlock 4.0 to make it easier to copy and paste code from one program to another.

Hi mfeldt

It base on Sratch 2.0.
The new version is still in the planning, temporarily, we are unable to give the release time.
As for the backpack function, it will be added to the customer requirement list and our engineers will asssess it. Thanks for your suggestion.
