Loud buzzing after firmware update

#1

I have the ultimate robot kit. I set everything up and when I go to connect to the app through Bluetooth I get an alert letting me know that I need to update the firmware. I continue with the update but upon reaching 100% the board begins to buzz loudly and the robot remains unresponsive. Anybody have a similar experience? I’m very knew to electronics and robotics so any tips on what I could do to get this thing working would be greatly appreciated.

Yes this is actually kind of normal. So 2 things: Are you using an andriod Makeblock app? If so you can run that a few times and it will finally work. If you are using apple iOS then you should download the firmware tool and use the usb plug to upgrade. After that there is a switch on the board right next to the reset push button that will turn the buzzer off. Go a head and switch that. I had to do this 3 or 4 times with the android app over bluetooth and it started to work. In about 5 minutes I am going to load the firmware manually over the Arduino IDE so I will let you know how that goes in a minute. I will also give you the link to the newest firmware version as I know that the version that ships with most of these kits, and the one that is on the iOS is not functional at this time.

Please keep me updated on your future solutions as well.

Having the same issue here. I’ve gone through the process several times of turning on the robot/controller, connecting Android app to Bluetooth and uploading firmware via Bluetooth only to be greeted with the constant beep/buzz.

There is a switch of buzzer on the board. You could turn it off.

Turning it off is great and all, but nothing works other than that buzzer with the latest firmware. So at this point, removing the batteries would be just as effective.
