Laserbox 40 watt laser

I recently purchased a makeblock laserbox 40 watt laser. I’m not impressed with the quality of work I’m getting while laser engraving. I’m hoping there our some settings I can adjust to get a more precise finished product. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
