Laser Module is too weak to engrave

I build up XY Plotter 2.0 with Laser module(500mw), and the laser is too weak to engrave.
I tried to engrave and cut some papers, but it can do nothing.
I connected power adapter to laser module, the light is on, but it is weak too.

Hello! Please make sure before carving smallest laser focus.

Having the same issue. Laser wont even burn the paper unless it stays focused on the same spot for a very long time.

Not able to engrave anywhere NEAR the speed shown in the demo videos.

The focus ring on the laser appears to do nothing at all.

Mine works very well, it will cut through several sheets of quite thick paper with no problem at all.

I suggest that the problem might be that the laser is not in proper focus. Turn the laser on, and (wearing the protective glasses!!) adjust the focus ring to get the smallest size of dot on your paper. Be very careful only to look at the dot on the paper, do it from above the laser!!

good thing that is you have 3.5W (3500 mW) laser then you may cut up to 3 mm of wood and plywood…
it takes time but sure you can do it:
