Laser Engraver GCode

#1

Hi,

Is there any way I can use Benbox software (LaserDaemon.exe?) or GRemote or something else to send GCode directly to the Laser Engraver instead of loading a DXF file into Benbox?

I sniffed the USB COM port whilst using Benbox and noticed that it appears to use GCode under the hood.

I only ask because I recently invested in a copy of CamBam software and prefer to work with GCode.

Regards

Pete

Can you explain how you sniffed the USB COM while using it to control the plotter?
I also try that at the moment and can not find any approach for that.

Pete,
Why would you want to use a program that installs a possible Trojan? If you try to install Benbox 3.7.99, Nortons and Windows Defender throws a red flag. I allowed it through Norton with my WIFI disabled. It stated that LaserDaemon was a Trojan. When you open up the Security History - Advanced Details, it states that LaserDaemon is allowing InBound TCP Port 7683. Why should an internal program want to allow traffic to come in? Also, you can disable LaserDaemon by changing the name and BenBox 3.7.99 did indeed work, but do you really want a program that has an associated program like this ran hidden when it could be used by someone to possibly use your computer as their own bot? There are plenty other programs out there that are free that will do the same thing.

Hello!
Recently, I received a few users say Benbox software Trojan suspect was reported.
I own tests, but the anti-virus software reports normal.
Benbox software developed by our partners Benbox, I will contact them and ask them to explain this thing.

We are very concerned about security software. We are actively contact our partners.
If a better alternative software, please tell us, thank you! Thank you for your attention to software security.

The following image is a screenshot of a user to communicate with me.

There is an alternative control software available: I explain it here. With some few changes it could also be used to control the other devices of MakeBlock. If you are interested and want more information, feel free to contact me.

Thank you very much.Laser Daemon.exe is a communications program. It is used between PC and Orion board communications. The program is not a virus.

When I try to install or run benbox-3.7.99-20150627.exe on Windows 10 computer McAfee finds the Trojan Artemis!24195E0ABBB during the install and quarantines it.

This is a false positive anti-virus software, you just allow it.

I am very concerned by this suspected vulnerability when attempting to install Benbox 3.7.99.

Norton Traps and reports a Trojan. You state that it is a false positive.

The problem here is one of trust

Discussions with your partner Benbox, makes sense, but would it not make more sense for both Benbox and you to engage with McAfee; Norton; Windows defender ? It appears that this aspect of the coding introduces a hidden vulnerability to a user’s PC. It is not enough to just state it is a false positive.

Why should we trust Albert, rather than our long standing trusted security defender?

My planned purchase of Makeblock x-y Plotter and Laser upgrade, is on hold pending a satisfactory resolution of this uncertainty.
