Just to make sure I do the right steps

#1

Hi all,

today I have written and uploaded my first small sketch using the Arduino IDE.
If I want to go back to makeblock and use scratch again, I have to connect the mbot with the USB cable and select “Reset Default Program” within makeblock.

This works fine. I just would like to make sure that this is the way to go…

Many thanks!

My experience confirms what you are saying IF you want to default program loaded (which is not written in scratch.)

I’ve never been able to upload any firmware or code without using the USB cable.

If you want to have the default program loaded you can use scratch to do it without using the IDE. You can technically upload the default program in the IDE.

If you want to write scratch programs and then upload them to mBot you do not need to “Reset Default Program”

Hi danger,

many thanks. I am still not sure if I got it right…

I have uploaded an Arduino sketch from the Arduio IDE using the USB cable. I have not tried bluetooth but I assume it will not work (fine for me).

From your post I understand that I can upload the default programs just from the Arduino IDE without “Reset Default Program” in Makeblock.

However, I just wanted to use Makeblock again to play with some scratch examples, and this does not work without an USB cable and a “Reset Default Program”. At least the code upload with Bluetooth has not worked without this reset. Maybe the USB cable alone will do the job.

Anyway, this is a working way…many thanks for your help!
