Is it possible to burn out etch-resistants on PCB board using XY Plotter with laser?

In this article[1], black spray paint is sprayed on the copper board. And unneeded area is burned out by laser.

  1. Is it possible to apply this way with MakerBlock XY Plotter V2.0[1]?
  2. Is it possible to burn Phenol Board for making the equivalent of a silkscreen[2]?

With the 500mW laser, you’d be pretty hard pressed to do anything but cut some paper stencils that you might be able to roll some etch resist through… The laser is not likely to be powerful enough to burn away the paint and wont cut many materials.

A 2W laser might be able to cut some better materials to make stencils/screens out of.
