Hi,
I’ve played with mBot a couple of hours (mblock5) and now I realize that I cannot do online debugging anymore. I think I have to erase my program to restore the online possibility, right? I tried to do upgrade the firmware (choosing the factory firmware) but now the program is the one that I had at the very beginning (with the 3 modes). I can do online programming yes but as soon as I try to use in my program the IR buttons (A,B or C) I realize that it triggers the “factory code” associated with these buttons. Is there a way to reset the firmware without loading the factory program? I think that there was a way with mblock3 (I’ve read on the FAQ that there is a difference in mblock3 between upgrading firmware and reset default program).
Thanks for your help,
Patrick
In mblock5, is there still a difference between upgrading firmware and reset default program?
The “firmware” is just a program. Arduinos don’t have an operating system, per se, so whatever is loaded into memory is what will be run. I suspect that mBlock 5 does away with the differentiation between the “firmware” and the “default program.” @tec_support can provide more insight on the development choices because I’m only speculating.

Chuck
Hi all,
The FAQ @PatrickA mentioned also works for mBlock 5.
If the board is overwritten by a customized code, and we want to clear this code, we can upload a new customized code, or do firmware upgrade, or reset default program.
@tech_support Is there a difference between firmware update and reset default program in mblock5? I would like to reset without having to reinstall the firmware code.
Thanks
Sorry, I am quite sure what exactly you mean. The difference is listed in the FAQ you mentioned, as well as when we need to update firmware, and when we need to reset default program.
Or were you referring to reset button on the mCore? This button is reboot the main board, not same thing as “reset default program” in mBlock software.
Sorry @tech_support if it’s unclear. I saw somewhere (image below) that there is a difference in previous version between Upgrade firmware and Reset default program. In mblock5 I only have one option: upgrade firmware.
Sorry, my bad. Though mblock 5, go to update firmware, then we can choose default program, like below:
