Hello!
I am new to Mbot and I have a problem. I downloaded mblock and the driver. However, when I go to “connect” then “serial port” nothing shows up. Did I do something wrong? Please help me. I would love to get my robot working soon
I can't connect to serial port?
You will need to let us know what operating system you are using. Also, please use the search function as this issue has been extensively discussed in the forum. Generally speaking, you will need to install the Arduino driver from the mBlock application to get the serial port registered with your operating system. If you are using a Mac with OS X 10.11.x (El Capitan), you will need to seek out this thread that points to the latest USB driver for the mCore serial port.
@Pioneer, it might be a good idea to consolidate topics like this into a sticky topic at the top of the forum as they tend to reoccur on a frequent basis.
A ‘best practice’ and a first users guide is being make by various forum users.
But a consolidated topic or sticky post with ‘first aid’ issues would be handy indeed
One thing I’ve noticed is that if I power on the mBot while connected via USB it occasionally causes a kernel panic. I’d suggest that it might be due to a power spike during mBot start-up (speculation on my part), but I’m not really sure why. I’ve gone to just turning on the mBot and then connecting the USB port. Seems to be much more stable.
