Help needed: Obstacle avoiding and line following” does not work

I just assembled the mBot ranger for the 1st time and I can connect successfully to my I pad app.

Problem 1: “Obstacle avoiding” does not work correctly. The ranger moves backwards by sequentially moving one tractor drive and then the other so it zig-zags around the floor but cannot avoid any objects

Problem 2: “line following” does not work. The robot just moves forward at constant speed but cannot follow the line.

Comments: the blue LEDs/sensors (that should track the line) change polarity when there is an object placed in front of them
I can control the 3 colors from the I pad slides
I confirmed the connections are all correct

Hi Tim,

We have sent you an email about suggest that you upgrade firmware for Ranger or change the battery have a check for this issue. There is no list of other posts.
Please kindly check if you got the correct one and reply us base on our email.
