Getting mblock running on Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard

#1

I am trying to get mblock to run on a bunch of older macs running 10.6 Snow Leopard. I had a bunch of problems with getting a driver to work but I finally got one that gives me the right device file for the CH340G chip. I can program the Orion board now with the Arduino IDE. But when I run mblock it does not list the serial port. The device file is /dev/tty.chusbserial3d10. I have tried various versions of mblock starting with 3.3.1. The latest version does not run on Snow Leopard though.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

-Pete

Hi Sandbender,

You may give a try with this driver: http://blog.sengotta.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/CH34x_Install.zip

No, unfortunately that driver does not work. I don’t see the device file when I plug the Orion board in. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Sandbender,

You may try the mBlock with newer Mac PC, there is no such issue when test mBlock with our Mac PC here, it should be some problem between the mBlock and the older Macs.
Normally, we suggest use the mBlock with newest version OSX (except the wew Mac OS Sierra).

Yes, I don’t have any problems with my newer macs. However we have quite a few machines which are old that run 10.6 and can’t be upgraded. It would be great if we had the money to upgrade to new computers but that is not a possibility.

Thanks
