Frustrated RadioShack Employee

#1

So we sold these MBots around Christmas without any problems. We recently got another shipment of them in so I decided to put one together as a demo so people could see how cool they were. So I followed the instructions to a T, downloaded mBlock, updated the firmware. then fired the robot up. I can’t get it to do any of the default functions. Even before I updated the firmware, the scratch programming is depressingly ineffective, with some of the events (button press) )not uploading to the board at all. The only time i can get the robot to behave even close to correctly is when it’s tethered to my computer via the included USB cable. (also had problems with my other USB port which is 3.0) I don’t think i’m an idiot, i have at least 3 years of programming experience. what am i doing wrong? is there some kind of secret? I’ve heard rumors of the recent firmware breaking things? is there a version that works out there? Just trying to wrap my head around this so I can get it working and feel good about selling it to people …

Measured the voltage out of the battery pack and turns out one of them was stone cold dead. Replaced it and I can at least program it now. Bluetooth works fine but IR control still doesn’t function. Got it following a little branching track of electrical tape on top of the parts drawers now. Excited to refine the program to make it smoother

First are you dicussing a mBot or starter robobot? If it’s a starter robot which Radio Shack did sell prior to Christmas. Is it a Bluetooth or IR version, but not both?

Hi CodiusMaximush,

Glad to hear that you finally figured out the problem. While you still mentioned that the IR control doesn’t work, is it solved now.
If no, please kindly refer to this file to reset default program have a try (temporarily move the bluetooth module while reset default program.)
